Additional Tales from the Beach Information

2008 album from the Acid Jazz favorites. Tales From The Beach, recorded in Italy, Germany, Indonesia, London, and mixed in Jakarta, is an album of 15 refreshing and uplifting songs. Each of the tracks are beautifully crafted; with guest vocals from Maysa Leak (I've Been Waiting') and Tony Momrelle, who turns in a stunning vocal on 'When The Sun Comes Down'. Other highlights including the four-to-the-floor stomper, 'Step Aside' and 'N.O.T.', an Acid Jazz-flavored track with horns reminiscent of the Average White Band

What Customers Say About Tales from the Beach:

Another good offering from Incognito (a very underrated group). I hope there will be more instrumentals--like "Colibri"--on their next CD. They deserve more recognition throughout the USA. How many radio stations actually play Incognito's music.

Incognito (or rather, Maunick) is owed and owes a lot to other musical forms. Somebody's been digging around the clubs and record store bins and dug up some 4Hero, Jazzanova and more (and vice versa, if we are completely honest; Maunick's been at this game a long time) and figured out the formula. There was the auspicious start, followed by the too-long unremarkable smooth jazz period and the less-than noteworthy albums associated with it. He's always had a moment or two per record, but not enough to make it always worth the money; for every "Raise" there were three "Tin Man"s.Finally, however, Maunick has chameleoned himself for survival long enough to see an era when he can be smooth and jazz and funky and it all still work together and not be a canned mess. I didn't expect to like this record based on previous efforts prior to "Bees + Things + Flowers" (which was still too sleepy for my taste or repeated listening), but this is the smartest, most happening Incognito record in a great many years. His ear for good, hungry vocalists rings true here, his arrangements are heads-and-shoulders above his ilk, and it's rubbed out the canned smooth jazz influences and stuck with an international, acid flavor that soars here.Go ahead: graduate from smooth jazz and get some real groove back into you catalogue.

I sing it to my soon to be husband. Perfect Music.

If you like the Brand New Heavies, Pieces of Dream, Earth Wind & Fire, Cool and the Gang, Esperanza Spalding, Bebel Gilberto, Euge Goorve, Chris Botti, 4Play, The Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra, Tower of Power, Dave Koz, Acoustic Alchemy, Boney James, Brian Culberton, Dave Grusin, Gerald Albright, Jeff Kashiwa, Jeff Lorber, Kem, Kim Waters, Marion Meadows, Paul Taylor, Wayman Tisdale, Nils, etc. You'll LOVE INCOGNITO.

Simply awesome. I just wish we could have more groups that sound like this.

They're the perfect combination of all these influences and more. I discovered them a couple of years ago and I'm hooked.

EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND THE BASS.My favorite song: I've Been Waiting. Love you baby.

This may will be one you want to get into to get a better idea of the group as a whole. It only serves to add what is a truly great effort by a very talented band.

That I would buy one of their cds and see what I had been missing. Well after several listens to "Tales from the Beach".

I've heard about them awhile back but I never decided until recently. In short to create one excellent musical ride that you don't want to end even after the last song.Tales from the Beach is an excellent well done album with a nice guest spot by Maysa on the album.

I've missed a lot it is a truly great effort by Incognito altogether with each song melding into the next with ease and style. There are various influences and styles throughout this cd but they are able to come together.

If you haven't heard of Incognito and are looking for a cd of theirs to purchase. Love "Tales from the Beach" and i WILL definitely buy more music from them in the future.

Previous recordings by Incognito have been unevenly recorded/mixed, to the point where I rarely listen to "eleven" even though the music is great. I'm a longtime cog fan -- yes, I do have everything they've ever released (to my knowledge). This ranks among their best session, and importantly, has dramatically improved sound quality. Tales is well balanced with a rich, but detailed sound. Great album from a great band.
